A San Diego native, Chef Lety Gonzalez draws inspiration from her Mexican heritage, shaped by generations of family cooking and storytelling. After beginning her career balancing restaurant work and the music industry, she committed fully to the culinary field, training under respected San Diego chefs and quickly rising to Executive Chef at Uptown Tavern. She later led kitchens at Beerfish and WestBrew and collaborated on high-profile events with Michelin-starred Chef Ruffo Ibarra.
During the pandemic, Lety founded Brujas Cocina, a pop-up turned catering company inspired by the comfort foods of her childhood. Now back at the helm, she is feeding her community with some of the best cross-border Mexican food in San Diego while teaching the next generation of chefs the importance of nourishment through food, with a focus on hyper-local and sustainable ingredients.
